A Brief History

  • Formed by Pete Maguire in November 1996 with 15 members aged 10-14 year.
  • By March 1997 membership had reached 40.
  • 1997 joined North West Assosiation of Skater Hockey (NWASH) league organised by the British Skater Hockey Assosiation (BiSHA). Finished 3rd place.
  • May 1998 reach end of season play off's in BiSHA, winning league B. Losing play-off semi-final to Macclesfield Meltdown.
  • From performances in the play-off's several Warlords players selected for trials with the Great Britain team.
  • January 1998 minnow's team formed by Stuart Baybutt.
  • By mid 1998 membership grown to 60 players.
  • Warlords S.H.C. has such a wide range of ages for players that they run four teams - Minnows (5-8yr), Peewee (8-11yr), Youth (U14) and Junior (U16).
  • August 1998 Warlords invited to participate in puck tournament at Nynex (now MEN) arena, competing against teams from across the UK.
  • 1998 U18's and U14's team registered in newly formed GB In-line Federation, based at purpose built roller rink in Deeside Leisure Centre. This is affiliated to the European Ice Hockey Association (EIHA).
  • Warlords U14 game versus Blackpool Raiders at Deeside recently filmed by Sky Sports to be considered as a pilot for future coverage of the sport.
